The Hewett Centre is a purpose built, not-for-profit community and function centre providing a central meeting place for those living in the Hewett area, the Light District Council and beyond.
The building is owned by the Light Regional Council, and occupied and managed by the Hewett Community Church of Christ by a board of management.
Our vision for the Hewett Centre is “Celebrating Community through Being Community and Building Community”. We seek to provide the community and corporations with a high quality function centre on the edge of the Barossa Valley, while being a space for local groups and individuals to celebrate and build relationships.
The Hewett Centre is an ideal location for a variety of functions, offering stunning views of the surrounding bushland. The venue and grounds, which include a modern outdoor decking area, provide a scenic and relaxing environment for your function. Hewett Centre is designed specifically to change its room sizes to accommodate an array of conference needs, parties, dinners and special occasions, catering from smaller more intimate groups to larger functions.
The Hewett Centre is suitable for a variety of conferences including training, seminars, presentations, product launches and team building supported with modern technology services and friendly professional staff supervision.
The Hewett Centre is also ideal for family celebrations such as children’s parties, special birthdays, engagements and weddings. We offer bar facilities, platter service and a secure venue.
We offer a variety of included extras with the use of our facilities including in built audio visual technology, modern sound system, complimentary use of lectern and microphone and ample onsite parking. There are also a suite of laptops that can be hired as an optional extra as well as wireless internet throughout.
Hewett Centre is located less than an hour from Adelaide, on the doorstep of the Barossa Valley with easy access via the Northern Expressway. The scenic rivergum setting takes you away from the hustle and bustle of life, into the calm and solitude that Australian bushland brings.
The heart of the Hewett Centre is community involvement and this is displayed through an array of activities held at the centre regularly. Throughout the year several Adult Community Education sessions are run in areas such as computing, photography and crafts. These classes are recognised through the Skills For All initiative and assist many people in the community to gain further knowledge and skills. We also offer Health and Wellbeing classes such as Yoga, Meditation and Pilates. Some classes are run weekly whilst others are conducted periodically throughout the year.
It is also the home of the Hewett Community Church of Christ, who holds a weekly church service on Sunday and other programs during the week.
A strong community presence is the result of a growing group of local volunteers who assist in areas including administration, functions and maintenance. The Hewett Centre is also the home of Kingfisher Kitchen providing a space for people to meet and interact while cooking healthy meals.
The Hewett Centre also provides family activities such as Move and Groove – a music programme run for infants to pre-schoolers which aims to build confidence, relationships and memories and our own story time where a story is presented followed by an activity. During the school holidays older children are catered for with Performing Arts programmes and Digital Photography sessions, with more sessions being added continually.
We also take part in community fundraising events where locals have the opportunity to celebrate the positive influences they can have through these experiences.
